Why would anyone put a peace loving organisation like Jehovahs Witnesses in a list of individuals and groups who have perpetrated murder on huge scale?

The answer is that every Jehovahs Witness pray's that Gods war of Armageddon comes soon.  A war that they claim will destroy everyone who isn't on Gods side (anyone who isn't a Jehovahs Witness). 
Their own children, parents, grandparents, any who are not Witnesses, will supposedly die in this act of mass murder - and they still look forward to the day that it arrives.

They justify this terrorist threat by declaring that everyone has a chance to join them and save themselves from Gods wrath - an identical approach to that being taken by Isis at this very moment; convert to Islam and you will not be beheaded.

God, according to Witness teachings, apparently made us to fawn over him and any that don't massage his ego will die.  This seems like a very insecure God!

We didn't see Henry Ford demanding every Ford driver ring him three times a day and thank him for his car or Steve Jobs requiring all Apple users congregate three times a week to worship the inventor of their favourite computer.

Ford and Jobs are revered for their brilliance, they are acknowledged for what they achieved as are many others who lead their field of expertise.  I am sure that none of them lost any sleep over the derogatory comments made by the minority that don't acknowledge their brilliance.  So why would God?  I personally don't believe in his existence but if he is out there, designing and creating life in a brilliant way, why would he care one single jot about my belief?  At worst he would laugh at my stupidity.  If he is so advanced, so intelligent and so loving why would he want to murder a world of mostly decent people?

Witnesses believe that God was challenged by one of his sons, Satan, to the right of universal sovereignty.  So let's get this straight - Almighty God, the being with the greatest power in the universe, is challenged by one of his creations, an angel, as to who should be fawned upon the most.

Satan is jealous, he wants mankind to bow to him while God believes that's his prerogative.   It seems to me that this is a family squabble so why should all of mankind be dragged into it?

If God created us and wanted us to worship him I have no problem with that - just let him (or her) show themselves to us and tell us what they want.  Stop talking in riddles, or giving us a book that can be interpreted in so many ways.  Just snap his / her fingers, get all of our attention and then explain that he / she needs to feel loved and we all need to show that love to him / her.

If there is anything at all that would put a person off loving someone it's the threat of mass murder!

Aerosmith and Us

I've recently joined an ex-JW Facebook group and some of the people who contribute to it have made me realise just what a journey it is leaving the Organisation.  As you read their experiences and their (often) open-hearted pleas I am constantly reminded that all of them, in some way or another, are echoing my own feelings and experiences. There is a lyric in the wonderful Aerosmith song 'Amazing' that says; Life's a journey not a destination .  It is a sentiment that until recently I never truly understood but now I realise that leaving a religion that has controlled and manipulated you for a lifetime is a journey that never really ends but it can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling if you allow it to be. What's the point of the Memorial?

It's memorial season again and most of us will get an invite.  To JW's it is viewed as the most important meeting of the year and effectively it is the only celebration that they actively encourage. Witnesses view the memorial as a celebration and as kids growing up in the 'truth' we were taught the significance of the emblems and the importance of the ransom sacrifice.  However, from being a youngster, I have always questioned the whole concept of both the memorial and (apostasy alert) more to the point, the reasoning behind Jesus ransom sacrifice.  Here is the basic premise of the memorial;  It's a formal ceremony that acknowledges the sacrifice of a perfect man, Jesus. That sacrifice was made as payment to God for mankind to regain the privilege of Gods blessing which had been lost by another perfect man, Adam.
