Eyes Wide Shut

This is how Jehovahs Witnesses deal with criticism. They shut their eyes, cover their ears and swallow the party line that all criticism is unjustified and untrue.

Rather than check the facts for themselves they delegate all their responsibilities to a small group of old, middle class American men who pat them on the head and tell them all the accusations are coming from apostates and Satan.

The following is more or less how the congregations deal with the allegations levelled against the organisation that are TRUE;

Ignore the thousands of child abuse cases that are appearing all over the world because it's just an attack by Satan on the organisation.  If you probe the reports you will be showing disloyalty to Jehovah and your faith could be damaged and as we are so close to Armageddon you don't want to risk that do you?   Excuse me, you were abused and the elders did not pursue it because it was just your word against his?  Do not go to the authorities, the bible tells us to settle our issues amongst ourselves not drag our brother to court.  You're saying the elders didn't deal with it - well were there any witnesses to your allegations?  No?  So just let Jehovah deal with it in his own time.  No we won't have the notes made by the elders at the time, we don't want anything like that falling into the wrong hands so we destroy them.  Yes that is a shame but we were only carrying out orders.

Disregard the charge that the Organisation of Jehovahs Witnesses were associate members of the United Nation for over ten years until the press revealed it.  Yes we know that we teach that the UN is Satan's political organisation on earth but you don't need to know why we did it.  Don't ask because you will be showing disloyalty if you question us.  Just accept that we are fighting a war and sometimes in war there is a need to spy on the enemy - that's as much as you need to know.

You've heard that many of the quotes in the 'Creation' book have been twisted to support our views on evolution?  Even that some of the so called experts we have used are not experts at all and we have used some 'experts' from over a hundred years ago and made it appear that the quotes were current? In fact in some cases you have been told that the quotes used were so badly twisted we have made them appear to be the polar opposite of the authors actual meaning?  May we ask why you have shown such disloyalty by even listening to these accusations?  Do you want to lose your privileges brother?  We can take away microphone duty in a jiffy and even your platform duties without a judicial committee so, if we hear any more of these rumours from you, we will consider it apostasy and throw you out.

Yes, many of our teachings have had to be changed over the years but this is not because we got it wrong, it is because as we get closer to the end of the system Jehovah God reveals things to us in a brighter light and we get a clearer understanding.  No Jehovah didn't mislead us by not telling us the truth the first time around and yes we can be sure he has revealed the right answer now.  Well yes, if the understanding changes again then the current understanding might not be the right one but no that doesn't mean we might have it wrong again, it just might change again that's all.  Look, enough of the questions, all right?  It's the truth and that's all you need to know - even if it isn't quite the final truth.  But don't question it because that will be a sign of disloyalty and you know where that might lead, don't you?

How can millions of people be fooled into believing that black is white and white is black?  How can they observe what is happening and yet believe it's not there?  Yet right now many thousands of Muslims are leaving their homes around the world and joining up with an organisation that considers it righteous to throw homosexuals to their deaths from rooftops, behead innocent people simply because they are not Muslims and carry out suicide bombings across the globe.  Those new converts know what is right and what is wrong yet they fail to see it when it is right in front of them.

The Governing Body of Jehovahs Witnesses are desperate for their converts to avoid seeing what is right in front of their eyes and the only way they can do it is through threat.  The threat of being 'disloyal' to Jehovah and the ramifications that would bring.  Everything they teach creates an isolated group of people, detached from the real world and blinded by false loyalty.

There is a simple question that reveals whether Jehovahs Witnesses are truly directed by Gods Holy Spirit;  Would perfect Holy Spirit have allowed the organisation to get themselves into such an unholy mess as they are in now?

No amount of eye shutting and ear blocking will make the answer to that question disappear.
