Lies for the Truth






Another child abuse case is being fought by Jehovahs Witnesses in San Diego.  Interestingly in this case the appeals court threw out a $13.5 million judgement against the organisation and effectively ordered a re-trial with the requirement that documents concerning past sexual abuse cases in the organisation should be turned over to the court - something that the Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society have fought to avoid.  If they don't produce the documents there is a high probability that a similar award will be made.

The problem is that the organisation have already admitted that they consider all the child abuse cases being levelled at them to be Satanic attacks and they feel justified in waging Theocratic warfare to protect themselves including impeding and misleading the authorities investigating the claims as well as the destruction of incriminating documentation.

Which begs the question; How will any court know if they have been given all the documents as JW's are clearly willing to mislead and even destroy evidence?

The organisation has repeatedly said that they abhor child abuse.  What else can they say?  The fact remains that their 'Two Witness' rule has enabled peodophiles to pray on children in many Kingdom Halls around the world.  What do they want the authorities to do?  Turn a blind eye?  Pretend nothing ever happened?  For years they have castigated the Catholic Church for the revelations of systematic child abuse by Priests and Bishops.  Now they are on the receiving end they are portraying themselves as the victim!

Is it any wonder that they actively and aggressively discourage their members from reading or watching any media reporting on the legal cases around the world?  In an effort to prevent a mass exodus from the religion they have to persuade the congregations that this is one of Satan's attacks on the organisation and to believe anything else is disloyalty - which, coincidently, the theme of their district conventions this year is loyalty to the organisation!

This has nothing whatsoever to do with loyalty and everything to do with their own arrogance, naivety and stupidity.  If they genuinely believed that the Holy Spirit directed them as an organisation they would be open and honest about what has happened within their congregations and let God guide them out of the situation with dignity.  The fact that they are trying to suppress the scale of the problem and even trying to evade the financial punishments for their own incompetence is clear evidence that they have no faith that Holy Spirit can help them.

They may well be able to control the majority of their believers by twisting the facts to support their defence but the facts are still the facts.  Child abuse is rife within the organisation and they have allowed it to happen because of their own incompetent rules.

Christianity has humility at its core.  Without humility Christianity is nothing but a sham.

Jehovahs Witnesses cannot even accept that they have a significant child abuse problem within their organisation.  They are desperately trying to shift the blame to the Devil.  It has nothing to do with any devil and everything to do with them as an organisation.  Where is their humility?  Where is their acceptance that their own rules have allowed these predators to carry out their sick perversions?

This religion is full of genuine, honest people but it is controlled by men who are pulling the wool over their eyes.

Aerosmith and Us

I've recently joined an ex-JW Facebook group and some of the people who contribute to it have made me realise just what a journey it is leaving the Organisation.  As you read their experiences and their (often) open-hearted pleas I am constantly reminded that all of them, in some way or another, are echoing my own feelings and experiences. There is a lyric in the wonderful Aerosmith song 'Amazing' that says; Life's a journey not a destination .  It is a sentiment that until recently I never truly understood but now I realise that leaving a religion that has controlled and manipulated you for a lifetime is a journey that never really ends but it can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling if you allow it to be. What's the point of the Memorial?

It's memorial season again and most of us will get an invite.  To JW's it is viewed as the most important meeting of the year and effectively it is the only celebration that they actively encourage. Witnesses view the memorial as a celebration and as kids growing up in the 'truth' we were taught the significance of the emblems and the importance of the ransom sacrifice.  However, from being a youngster, I have always questioned the whole concept of both the memorial and (apostasy alert) more to the point, the reasoning behind Jesus ransom sacrifice.  Here is the basic premise of the memorial;  It's a formal ceremony that acknowledges the sacrifice of a perfect man, Jesus.
