Sex and the Conundrum

God, according to Jehovahs Witnesses, never changes.  His justice and standards are the same now as they were at the beginning of time.  So here is a conundrum;

Why do Jehovahs Witnesses disfellowship congregation members who have committed adultery when many of Gods 'faithful' men who are revered by the organisation were serial adulterers?

In fact why did God specifically give the command; You must not commit adultery and yet accept it from his own servants?

I am of course referring to the use of concubines which are defined in the Oxford Dictionary as;

1. chiefly historical (In polygamous societies) a woman who lives with a man but has lower status than his wife or wives.

1.1 archaic A mistress.

Don't misunderstand me, I am not defending adultery, however more JW's are disfellowshipped for adultery each year than any other 'sin'.  The organisation defends the 'faithful men of old' by explaining that God only tolerated the customs of multiple wives and concubines.

So if God never changes, how can one man be 'his friend' despite breaking his law and another be disfellowshipped for breaking the same law?

Sex is treated by JW's in a strange and very bizarre way.  They believe that even in the marriage bed there are strict limits on what is and what is not acceptable.  Basically missionary position is - everything else is not!

However, they are more than happy to accept a world famous musician into their ranks who includes lyrics in his songs that promote masterbation,  oral sex and vibrators.  After becoming a Witness Prince reportedly didn't perform these songs in public again but he still received royalties from them. There is a great deal of speculation that Prince donated millions of dollars to the organisation and they are likely to receive millions more through his will, following his death.  My guess is if this is true, they will not refuse it despite the fact that those millions have been partially accumulated by songs that promote the polar opposite of their sexual standards.

As with most organisations moral standards are trumped by cash. 

If JW's have refused his money because of the morals his songs promoted then this has not been made public and I would sincerely apologise.  Maybe they would like to comment? I know they read this blog.

The JW organisation uses Jesus words to set the standards for sex amongst their congregations.  He says;

'Everyone that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28)'

If that is the standard then every normal healthy male on the planet has committed adultery.  Surely scriptures like this should make them realise that not everything in the bible makes sense and not everything should be taken literally!  Their rules on sex are draconian and fail to acknowledge that if we have been designed by a Grand Creator, he has provided us with feelings and desires that he intended us to act upon within a loving relationship. 

Everyone knows what is right and what is wrong, conscience is the morality barometer and for those who ignore their conscience we have the rule of law.
