Who Cares What You Think - We Are Always Right

Following on from my last blog I have been thinking about the Governing Bodies instruction to Elders to follow the Society’s instructions “whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.”

This gives them a license to do anything they please without any checks and balances.  The argument they use is that all instruction comes from Jehovah and therefore it is perfect.  Of course this explanation ignores the fact that everything they teach supposedly comes from Jehovah yet they have been getting things wrong since the day CT Russell decided to publish the Zion's Watchtower.  If Jehovah God really guided them would they have publicly made so many predictions that did not materialise?   Of course not.

In order to issue an order as arrogant as 'follow our instructions whether you agree with them or not' it must be backed by a track record of faultless instructions.  A track record that the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses does not enjoy.  Go back over a hundred years and they were predicting Armageddon would come on various dates, all of which came and went without any sign of Gods wrath.  Fast forward to recent years and consider their internal decisions which are as diverse as;

  • Interpreting the 'two-witness rule' when applied to child abuse allegations
  • Allowing elders who have committed 'sins' to avoid punishment if they keep it quiet for a few years
  • Refusing women the opportunity to teach, despite the example of Deborah as a judge
  • Changing the rules on accepting blood
  • Destroying family relationships with the use of 'shunning'
  • Deliberately mis-quoting eminent scientists in the Creation book
  • Secretly joining the United Nations as Associate Members
  • Giving misleading evidence at the Australian Royal Commission
  • Fighting the UK Charities Commission's attempts to obtain documentation relating to child abuse allegations
  • Publicly accusing people like me as being 'mentally diseased' because we expose the sickness that rots within their religious beliefs
  • Producing anti-gay videos aimed at a child audience
  • Creating a huge, centralised money pot that is controlled by the Governing Body

I could go on and on but I think the point has been made.  These men are fraudulent fools who are conning their followers to believe that they have both Gods backing and direction.  My old dad, who is still a Witness and has as little to do with me as possible, had one saying that made perfect sense; 'It's not what you say that matters, it's what you do'.  The Governing Body of Jehovahs Witnesses demonstrate very clearly by their actions that they are untrustworthy.  They claim 'The Truth' but in reality their actions reveal nothing but lies and mis-direction.  So why would any Elder, with a modicum of common sense, accept the instruction to; "Follow the Societies instructions whether they appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not?"

Fear.  That is how the Governing Body control the leaders within their Kingdom Halls.  If you are an Elder and you don't toe the line you risk being disfellowshipped which will result in the loss of your position, your authority, your friends and even your relationship with your family.  A pretty powerful incentive to toe the line.

So now the Governing Body can ensure that a constant and very significant income is pouring into their coffers without any serious opposition from the congregations around the world.

Now consider the following scenario;

An Elder finds that his young child has been sexually abused by another 'brother' in his congregation. The Societies 'Two Witness' rule has not only prevented the abuser from being punished by the congregation but the Elder also discovers that the man has been accused of the same crime in the past in other congregations.  Now the Elder decides to pursue the abuser through the legal system and he also pursues the Organisation because their 'rule' makes them complicit in the crime.

However, the Elder, who is also the Father of the victim, is now faced with the prospect of a legal confrontation with the JW's, an Organisation that he has had to accept, can take the majority of his congregations contributions every month.  He now has to pit his case against an Organisation that is awash with money (including that from his own friends and family) to spend on legal representation and the Governing Body he both trusted and believed in.

At one time during my blogs I defended Jehovahs Witnesses even if I disagreed with their religious views.  The more I research them the more I loath their vile, disgusting ways.  This is a religion to steer well clear of if you love your friends, your family and your sanity.  Their beliefs are no more representative of Jesus teachings than a sewer to a beautiful landscape.
