Who's Brainwashing Whom?

We can all learn, whether we are 9 months or ninety, we can assimilate new information, build on our knowledge and achieve new skills.  However it is the young who are able to learn at the quickest rate. Young children can learn languages without any formal training and in multi-language families they can quickly assimilate two, three or more with seemingly little effort.  I've known three year old kids who can flip from Spanish to English or Farsi to English, conversing with their mum in English and their dad in his first language all within the same discussion.

As parents, our primary objective is to educate our kids, provide them with a solid basis to enable them to become productive members of society and experience happy, fulfilling lives.  We are charged with making the most of those formative years and failure to to carry out that obligation in a way that has anything but the child's best interests at heart would, I'm sure you will agree, be tantamount to failing in our responsibility and failing as a parent.

Sadly many parents fail their kids for various reasons.  Some are too young and too inexperienced to understand their responsibilities - they are still kids themselves.  Some are too selfish to put the time into helping their children learn and develop, preferring instead to use the TV or a Smart device to act as baby-sitter.

Sometimes of course there is a genuine reason for failure.  Some single parent families have to work multiple jobs just to get by.  Others are too sick to be able to offer proper parenting and often it's the kids who end up looking after the parent.

But there is one group of people who deliberately and selfishly refuse to carry out that education in the child's best interests,  preferring instead to use those formative years to constantly drip feed their own religious beliefs into the minds of their children.  Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year they create little 'Jehovah' robots, filling those receptive minds with fear, suspicion and prejudice.

Worse, in an effort to prevent the child from discovering the real 'truth', those same parents try their hardest to steer them away from further education where they will be de-programmed by sanity and real knowledge.

Jehovahs Witnesses call it; Inculcating.  This is what the JW.ORG website says on training their children:

What does it mean for parents to “inculcate” God’s standards into their child? It means that they must frequently repeat what they teach him. A small child is like a young tree that needs a little bit of water frequently. Just as adults learn more easily when they hear an idea repeated several times, so also children learn more easily when ideas are repeated to them.

Frequent repeated teaching in this case means daily at home and at least twice a week at the Kingdom Hall.  In any other section of society we would call it brain washing.  Go to any Catholic family in Northern Ireland and ask the children if they would rather be Protestant - and vice versa - and see the response. 

JW.ORG calls this type of teaching LOVE.  It's as far from love as a parent could ever get.  They are subjecting their children to a life of distrust, fear, educational embarrassment and limited opportunities. 

Of course the parents will argue that; 'we have a wonderful hope of living forever in a paradise earth where we will welcome back dead loved ones and live in a sickness free Utopia.  We are educating our children to enjoy that wonderful time.'

And that is what happens when you allow yourself to be drip fed everyday of every week of every month of every year by the Governing Body of Jehovahs Witnesses.  It isn't just the children being brainwashed - it's the parents as well.
